Thriving Local Businesses

Thriving Local Businesses

Local businesses are the heart of Hamilton. Currently the city offers improvement plans to a limited selection of businesses for building and property improvements, Melissa believes everyone should have this opportunity.

As Ward 6 Councillor, Melissa will advocate for expanding improvement plans so more businesses can invest, grow, and contribute to a stronger community. Investing in local businesses creates a strong and vibrant city for everyone.

Safer Roads for Everyone

Safer Roads for Everyone

Melissa will advocate for The City of Hamilton to reassess it's Zero Vision Plan, focusing on high-risk areas with a history of collisions and fatalities. She will champion practical improvements that make a real difference, including:

  • Improved visibility at pedestrian crossovers
  • Closing gaps in cycling infrastructure
  • Safer, more accessible streets

Because safety should never depend on how you choose to travel.

Stronger Community Supports

Stronger Community Supports

Healthy communities start with access to the support people need.

Melissa has seen the lasting impacts of the pandemic on Hamilton families. From rising rates of addiction and mental health challenges, to developmental delays in children, she believes more must be done to strengthen community supports.

As a strong advocate for social services, Melissa will work to expand access to community-based services and advocate for additional crisis intervention and prevention resources.

Protecting Our Future

Protecting Our Future

Proposals to build data centers have raised concerns about Hamilton's future, and Melissa is listening. She believes one of the city's greatest strengths is its proximity to conservation lands and the community's commitment to protect them. She is committed to working alongside local Elders, environment experts, community organizations, and residents to ensure Hamilton's economic growth is balanced with environmental stewardship.

Melissa believes responsible leadership means protecting the environment while ensuring major decision-making reflects the values of the people who call Ward 6 home.
